The College of Northern Canada (CNC) is a private educational institution established by the IBS Group of Companies, driven by a profound sense of social responsibility. While CNC welcomes learners from all backgrounds, its mission is centered on addressing the longstanding educational challenges faced by residents of remote northern communities—particularly those with predominantly Indigenous populations.
CNC operates independently and does not receive financial support from federal, provincial, or territorial governments, nor from Indigenous organizations. It is sustained without public funding, guided instead by a strong commitment to creating meaningful, lasting impact in the communities it serves.
CNC programs and initiatives are not driven by profit, but by the firm belief that education is a vital instrument for community development, empowerment, and self-determination. In many northern communities—where Indigenous people often comprise 90% or more of the population—access to formal education remains limited due to geographic isolation, infrastructure barriers, and historical inequities. CNC was created to bridge that gap, offering high-quality, flexible, and accessible programming specifically designed to meet the unique needs of remote learners at various levels in their academic and professional journey.
